Let’s dive in!
More guests, more playing time
It’s not surprising that the number of guests affects the duration of a game. With just 5 participants, the game will be quicker compared to having 20 players. As the host, you have some control over the game’s length once all guests have arrived.
Here are some tips:
- Arrange the room for better communication.
- Pre-set everything for a smooth start.
- Establish a rough schedule for each round.
Although not an exact science, you have the power to decide if the game will last 1 hour or 3 hours!
In all of my games I have made a “Suggested Timeline” for you to follow, with guest arrival times and when the different events could take place.
Feel free to speed up or slow down the suggested times on the timeline!
Should there be brakes during the game?
Breaks can add a fun twist to a murder mystery party, giving you a chance to grab another cocktail, review evidence, or reflect on the previous events. My games are designed without breaks between events – but feel free to add as many (or few) breaks as you want.
If you’re short on time and need to move quickly, skipping breaks might be a better option.
Can I speed up my murder mystery party?
Yes, just don’t take breaks and make the timings between events in the suggested timeline shorter.
You as the host, can also move along the progress with your hosting skills.
Guide the plot forward by adhering to your gameplay instructions and prompting your guests to maintain pace as per your schedule.
How can I make the game (and the fun) last longer?
Remember to take breaks and explore the extra features available in various games.
Try out themed activities like singing karaoke, playing truth or dare. With endless possibilities, your party can keep going strong day and night!
