The most common worry about a murder mystery is being handed the murderer and told to fool your friends for the rest of the night. In a MortalCase game that job doesn't exist, which is usually enough to turn a hesitant maybe into a yes. You'll leave with the short, honest answer for a guest who asks, and a way to decide whether you want to know the ending yourself before the evening starts.
Hosting a MortalCase murder mystery doesn't cost you the mystery. The solution lives in 2 documents you leave closed, so everything you need in order to run the party can be read without spoiling a thing: the casting, the timeline, the evidence, the invitations. You take a character, you investigate, you vote, and you're surprised at the Reveal like everyone else. The one thing you trade is being fully in character every single minute.
Every MortalCase game is built the same way, and that's the point: 20 characters, 8 of them required, 3 murders in a fixed order, evidence across the evening, a vote, and a Reveal that names the killer and the motives. The host can play without knowing the answer, and so can the guest who turns out to be the killer. Nothing about the format changes between games, so once you have hosted 1 you can host any of them.
